Brow Henna and Brow Waxing Safety Guide

Brow henna and professional brow waxing give instant polish and confidence, but your safety and a flawless result come first.

Read this quick guide before you book so you know what to disclose, what to avoid, and how to keep your brows looking luxe and healthy.

Who should pause or seek clearance?

Certain conditions increase the risk of irritation, infection, or poor results. Please postpone your appointment or get medical/esthetic clearance if any of the following apply:

• Active skin infection, open wound, cut, scab, or broken skin near the brow area

• Recent oral isotretinoin (Accutane) use within the past 6–12 months

• Recent aggressive resurfacing, ablative laser, or chemical peel on the brow/forehead within the last month

• Current chemotherapy or other immunosuppressive therapy

• Known allergy to henna, hair-dye ingredients (including PPD), or wax components

• Active cold sore or herpes simplex near the treatment area

• Recent microneedling, IPL, or nonabrasive laser on the face within 2–4 weeks

If you’re unsure whether something applies, it’s safer to wait or ask your medical provider.

When we’ll proceed with extra care

We can often still provide services with informed consent, extra caution, or a modified approach when:

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding (patch test and client consent recommended)

• You’ve had Botox or fillers in the brow/forehead area (we generally wait at least 2 weeks after injections)

• You have sensitive skin, eczema, rosacea, or a history of slow healing (we may perform shaping only, skip tinting, or require a patch test)

Patch tests and allergy screening

If you’re trying henna or a new tint for the first time, or if you have any history of dye sensitivity, we strongly recommend a patch test 48–72 hours before your full appointment. A patch test is the safest way to check for allergic reactions and helps ensure your service is comfortable and beautiful.

What to tell us on booking

Please disclose the following so we can plan the safest, most effective service:

• Recent prescriptions or topical products (retinoids, tretinoin, strong exfoliants) used on or near brows

• Dates of recent cosmetic procedures (Botox, fillers, lasers, peels, microneedling)

• Any allergies, past reactions to dyes or wax, or chronic skin conditions near your brows

• Whether you’d like a patch test before your appointment

Simple aftercare for best results

• Avoid heavy sweating, swimming, and intense sun exposure for 24–48 hours after waxing or henna

• Skip facials, chemical peels, or aggressive exfoliation on the brow area for at least 48 hours

• Use gentle cleansers and avoid oil-heavy products directly on freshly tinted henna until fully set

If you notice unusual redness, swelling, blistering, or any systemic symptoms after your appointment, stop using products on the area and seek medical attention.
